RESOURCE MOBILIZATION

Engaging in multi-racial, multi-class, intergenerational community building and resource exchanging is essential to what we do as a community of Weavers. We believe that racial capitalism has impacted all people, no matter their economic background. Our resource mobilization and donor programming create space for people with class privilege to engage in their own political education and embodiment practices in the context of a Black Feminist project. We believe that there is internal work that donors need to do to get in right relationship with themselves to be able to take the bold action needed to shift power and financial resources. Through our years of working with people across the economic spectrum, it has become increasingly clear how many of us are trying to break free of the same economic patterns that create scarcity, disempowerment, and lack of trust of self and others. What makes Weavers’ resource mobilization and donor programming unique is that we work consistently with community members, donors, and fellows, as we know that our ability to work towards structural change requires all of us, and that each of us have many aspects of ourselves to contribute to movement-building, not just money. Resource mobilization and donor organizing are crucial aspects of what makes The Weavers Project thrive.
